What is a Motherboard and Why is it Imprtant?

Net
A motherboard is the most important component that is in your PC, think of it as the engine and transmission that drives it. This vital piece of hardware provides your computer with a place for everything to plug into so that it can perform the tasks necessary to making your life easier, including your audio/video and the hard drive where all your information is stored at.

When you open up the case of your computer (do not do this if your computer is under warranty, as it may void it.) the main board or motherboard is usually mounted on the side of the PC's tower and stand in a vertical position.

If you want to take a look be sure to first unplug your PC and then press the power button to discharge the power so that you do not damage your system. On the motherboard you may have several different slots for other components to plug in, for example you may have a slot that is about 4 1/2 inches long that you may be able to plug in a extra video card if you do not already have one, very quickly boosting your gaming performance.

However if you do not have enough RAM, this is the skinny sticks with chips on the side, the computer will not be able to hold all the temporary information for your gaming needs. There should also be a place where you will have the socket for the CPU, the CPU on the motherboard is the brain behind the power, and is what regulates how fast that your PC can move data around on your hard drive as well as how fast it computes necessary information so that you can run complicated programs.
